The Role – Machine Setter
As a Machine Setter, you’ll be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining production machinery to ensure smooth, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing runs. You’ll play a key part in driving performance, maintaining product standards, and supporting continuous improvement within the production team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate production machinery according to product requirements
- Monitor production quality, including thickness, width, and output consistency
- Identify and resolve mechanical or process issues quickly and effectively
- Ensure changeovers and shift handovers run smoothly
- Minimise stoppages and downtime through proactive problem-solving
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately
- Work closely with engineers and shift managers to resolve technical issues
- Maintain high housekeeping and Health & Safety standards at all times
Skills and Experience Required
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience as a Machine Setter, Production Operator, or Process Technician (within manufacturing or engineering)
- PVC extrusion machine experience – highly sought after
- Understanding of mechanical processes, raw materials, and production systems
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret data and identify trends
- Calm and logical decision-making under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements with a proactive safety mindset
