The Role – Machine Operative

As a Machine Operative, you’ll be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining production machinery to ensure smooth, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing runs. You’ll play a key part in driving performance, maintaining product standards, and supporting continuous improvement within the production team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate production machinery according to product requirements
  • Monitor production quality, including thickness, width, and output consistency
  • Identify and resolve mechanical or process issues quickly and effectively
  • Ensure changeovers and shift handovers run smoothly
  • Minimise stoppages and downtime through proactive problem-solving
  • Complete production and quality documentation accurately
  • Work closely with engineers and shift managers to resolve technical issues
  • Maintain high housekeeping and Health & Safety standards at all times

Skills and Experience Required

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience as a Machine Operative, Production Operator, or Process Technician (within manufacturing or engineering)
  • PVC extrusion machine experience – highly sought after
  • Understanding of mechanical processes, raw materials, and production systems
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret data and identify trends
  • Calm and logical decision-making under pressure
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements with a proactive safety mindset
