We are recruiting for an Assistant Financial Controller position on behalf of a leading Private Healthcare Group based in London (hybrid - 3 days in, 2 days WFH). Reporting into the FC, the Assistant Financial Controller will assume a supportive role to the Financial Controller and Finance Director, in the management of the divisional finance team. This position will supervise and coordinate the management accounting teams (8), providing oversight on management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, business partnering, financial analysis, controls, compliance, and audit.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise Management Accounting teams and oversee day-to-day operations
- Conduct team appraisals and objective setting, alongside the Financial Controller
- Review month-end management accounts prepared by the management accountants, ahead of Financial Controller sign off
- Support monthly departmental finance/budget reviews with non-finance department heads
- Oversee weekly forecasting, ahead of Financial Controller review
- Oversee departmental expense reviews and budget preparation processes
- Oversee MoR reporting and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by Management Accountants
- Support the production of annual budgets
- Act as key contact for group queries across all divisional entities
- Coordinate statutory audits across all entities, liaising with external auditors and managing requests
- Ad-hoc reporting, projects and analysis, as and when required
Candidate requirements
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Experienced in effective team leadership, at either management or supervisory level + ability to influence at all levels
- Experienced in management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, business partnering + a good working knowledge of controls and compliance
- Strong analytical skillset
- Strong commercial awareness, demonstrating a good knowledge of what drives a business
- Strong/advanced Excel skillset
