We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to support our marketing department. Working collaboratively, key responsibilities will include the administration of promotional campaigns, including email and website marketing, social media and the organisation of book reviews. Outstanding organisational, communication and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise, are essential, as is excellent attention to detail. In addition, knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Express, Campaign Monitor, WordPress or databases would be an advantage. Experience of working in marketing or the publishing industry is desirable. This is a full‑time position, working 35 hours per week, based at our office in Cheltenham UK.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain our database of media outlets, including academic journals, newspapers, magazines, blogs, newsletters, podcasts.
  • Research promotional opportunities such as listservs, associations and events.
  • Proof monthly New Books mailer.
  • Respond to review requests and send (e)Books to potential reviewers.
  • Disseminate printed reviews (internal and to authors) and pass suitable promotional quotes on for use in marketing material.
  • Build email campaigns (Campaign Monitor) from briefs drawn up by Marketing Execs.
  • Retrieve book covers from shared drive, resize in Photoshop (using automated actions) and upload to various outlets promptly.
  • Chase missing/late book covers from our Production Department, troubleshoot website cover issues.
  • Find and follow authors/key contributors for imminently published books so posts can be tagged.
  • Approve requests to join our LinkedIn groups (e.g., Competition Law journal group).
  • Upload author videos to our YouTube channel and pass links to be stored on the database.
  • Post to LinkedIn, Bluesky, Facebook and Instagram and interact appropriately with followers.
  • Produce flyers in InDesign using a template, adding hyperlinks and any relevant conference/launch/discount information. Send on to authors.
  • Produce promotional assets for new books suitable for use on social channels (Adobe Express).
  • Assist with the maintenance of our marketing database.
  • Keep a calendar of upcoming conferences marketing‑wise and contact organisers a couple of months prior to optimise promo opportunities and schedule promotional emails.
  • Post blog pieces (using WordPress), source suitable images and inform author when the pieces are live.
  • Oversee the calendar of entry dates for book awards and see the application process through, including entry forms, supply of books from distributor/obtaining watermarked PDFs, contact with award coordinators, informing our authors both of nominations and outcome.
  • Website amendments (using the Silverstripe CMS).
  • Set up discount codes (in Magento CMS) for conferences, mailers, and editorial requests.
