The Tax Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all tax-related activities for clients, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The role involves planning and executing tax strategies, managing tax audits, preparing tax returns, and supervising junior staff. The Tax Manager also provides clients with valuable advice on tax-efficient strategies and works closely with partners to ensure the firm's tax services are delivered effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Client Service & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding tax matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction.
- Provide expert advice on tax planning, tax-saving strategies, and compliance.
- Review clients' financial statements and business operations to identify potential tax issues and solutions.
Tax Return Preparation & Review
- Oversee the preparation and review of individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns.
- Ensure that tax returns are filed accurately and timely, adhering to applicable tax laws and deadlines.
- Coordinate the gathering of necessary documentation from clients for tax filings.
Tax Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Stay updated on changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Ensure clients comply with tax laws and regulations and advise on any required changes.
- Manage audits, respond to IRS inquiries, and resolve tax disputes.
Team Management & Development
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior tax staff and associates.
- Provide on-the-job training and development opportunities for staff.
- Assign tasks, review work, and ensure deadlines are met.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with other departments, including audit and consulting, to provide integrated services to clients.
- Assist in the preparation of internal reports and presentations for firm leadership.
Business Development & Practice Growth
- Assist in marketing and business development initiatives to attract new clients.
- Identify opportunities for expanding services to existing clients.
- Participate in networking and industry events to represent the firm and stay abreast of industry trends.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree in Taxation or similar is preferred.
