EduTalent Group are working with a specialist SEN school in Hassocks who are recruiting for 2 Teaching Assistants to start ASAP until the end of the academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly supportive and nurturing SEN setting delivering an alternative curriculum with a strong focus on creativity, outdoor learning, and life skills development. One role will be Monday–Thursday, and the second role will be Mondays and Thursdays each week. The school is looking for individuals who are passionate about working with children with additional needs and who ideally have an interest in animal care, cooking, gardening, or outdoor learning, as these form a key part of the curriculum.

Job Description

  • Support pupils with a range of SEN needs within a specialist setting
  • Work closely with class teachers to deliver engaging, practical and sensory-based learning
  • Support learning through outdoor education, cooking, animal care and creative activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support where required
  • Encourage independence, communication and life skills development
  • Help manage behaviour using positive and supportive strategies
  • Contribute to a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement throughout the school day

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (essential)
  • Experience in a school or similar support setting desirable
  • Passion or interest in outdoor learning, cooking, gardening or animal care
  • Creative, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils with additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
