Edukatus, on behalf of a UK boarding school, is seeking to appoint an in-country representative in China who will lead on Edukatus and the school's recruitment activity for China. The post holder will be sales-driven and target-focused and will be responsible for building and managing the UK China Agent network and in the delivery of the in-country activities. The post holder will also be expected to travel in China, the UK, and other countries. The post holder will also be expected to attend regional recruitment events in the UK and meet the recruitment target for the represented UK boarding school.
This role requires an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a passion for education and internationalisation. The position will be China-based, remotely working. Preferred location is Beijing or Shanghai.
The In-country Representative will be expected to work closely with the Managing Director, the represented UK boarding school, and the team based in the UK and China. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute across the full range of Edukatus' activities. Implementing a conversion strategy, to China and UK international recruitment activities in view of achieving agreed targets, identifying potential recruitment channels, meeting with prospective students and stakeholders, building and managing a network of recruitment partners are important aspects of this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning and Organising Resources
To support the development and maintenance of a forward calendar of recruitment and conversion activities in collaboration with colleagues from across the company and represented UK boarding school.
To develop a network of agents by setting and monitoring targets and providing agents with training in accordance with the company's policy and sector-wide best practice.
To maintain and enhance market knowledge.
To assist agents and partners during the application and admissions process, and provide a timely response where queries arise.
To monitor the performance of agents and partners, and to feedback to the Managing Director on key trends and findings.
To facilitate international partnership development activity.
To assist prospective students from the enquiry stage through to application and enrolment in assigned regions.
To assist in recruitment activities in allocated markets when required.
To develop positive working relationships with agents and partner institutions.
- Recruitment Activity
To assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of recruitment activities.
Respond to international students' enquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner, using initiative where the immediate answer is not always available.
Advise prospective students and key influencers on study options, fees and funding, application procedures, accommodation and required entry qualifications, and refer to Edukatus appropriate specialist information sources in a timely manner where necessary.
Assist in the creation and delivery of targeted presentations, seminars, and workshops to partner agencies, potential students, parents, recruitment partners, and other stakeholders; ensuring information is factually correct and in line with the Edukatus brand guidelines.
To support a network of agents by assisting with training sessions, providing timely enquiry assistance and support, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
To maintain and enhance market knowledge and best practice approaches to student recruitment.
- Liaising and Networking
To work closely with colleagues from across Edukatus and represented UK boarding school in support of collaborative recruitment and partnership development activities.
To network with external organisations.
To report back to the Managing Director on market conditions, competitor activity, and emerging market trends across assigned regions, and others if required.
Attend overseas recruitment events and international education fairs (travel required).
Person Specification
- Holds a bachelor's degree or above, with study experience in the UK.
- Has a strong interest in international education and student development.
- Is results-driven with a clear sales and target-oriented mindset.
- Has excellent spoken and written English and Mandarin.
- Has 2–3+ years' experience in education, student recruitment, admissions, or related sales roles (preferred).
- Is proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Has strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Is comfortable representing the organisation in high-profile settings.
- Is able and willing to travel frequently (domestic and international).
- Is proficient in office software and CRM systems.
- Seeks long-term career development in the international education sector.
