My client is a North London school, looking to recruit an experienced School Business Manager to join its senior leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic yet hands-on professional who enjoys working at the heart of a school community. The School Business Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of the school across finance, HR, premises and administration. Working closely with the Headteacher and SLT, the role spans day-to-day operational oversight as well as medium- and long-term planning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading financial planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting to support sustainable decision-making
  • Managing HR administration, safer recruitment processes and operational staffing arrangements
  • Overseeing health and safety compliance, premises matters and liaison with site and catering teams
  • Acting as lead for data protection, statutory policies and regulatory requirements
  • Line a small office staff team, providing professional guidance and development
  • Supporting governors and senior leaders with financial and organisational advice

The successful candidate will bring solid experience in school business management, with demonstrable strengths in finance, HR and compliance. You will be confident operating at senior level, enjoying a hands-on role requiring practical problem-solving, as well as balancing competing priorities. Strong interpersonal skills, integrity and discretion are essential, alongside a proactive, organised approach and the ability to build effective working relationships across the school community.

The role is offered as term time plus some holiday weeks working (number to be agreed upon).
