The Role: * Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities * Supporting pupils with their learning, communication, social and emotional development * Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support strategies and learning plans * Adapting activities and resources to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities * Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and engagement in learning * Supporting pupils who may have communication difficulties, sensory needs, behavioural challenges, or other additional needs * Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment * Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils and helping them feel confident and valued * Supporting pupils with daily routines and encouraging greater independence * Monitoring and reporting on pupils' progress and sharing relevant observations with the teaching team * Assisting with the school's after-school club on some days, helping to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children at the end of the school day We're Looking For: * Experience working as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEND in a school, nursery, care, or similar setting is desirable * A caring, patient, empathetic, and resilient approach * The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting children with additional needs * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children and colleagues * A willingness to learn and adapt your approach to meet individual needs * Reliability, professionalism, and a genuine passion for supporting children to thrive * An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) What We Offer: * Full-time and long-term opportunity for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant within a welcoming school in St Albans * Competitive rates of pay (dependent on experience) * A supportive and inclusive school environment * Valuable experience working with pupils with additional needs * Opportunities to develop your SEN knowledge and experience * Ongoing support from your dedicated consultant at Educo Recruitment If you are passionate about helping children with additional needs overcome barriers to learning, develop their independence, and achieve their potential, we'd love to hear from you.
