A specialist SEN school in Merton is looking to appoint a passionate and creative SEN Art Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis. The school caters for students with Autism (ASD), SEMH, ADHD, speech & language needs and associated behavioural difficulties across KS3 and KS4.
This role is ideal for an Art Teacher with SEN experience or a mainstream teacher looking to transition into specialist education.
SEN Art Teacher – Role Overview- Deliver engaging and differentiated Art lessons across KS3–KS4
- Support students with ASD, SEMH and complex additional needs
- Manage behaviour using positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches
- Adapt lessons to meet EHCP targets and individual learning needs
- Work closely with SEN TAs, therapists and pastoral teams
- Create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
- Encourage creativity, confidence and emotional expression through Art
- QTS / QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Art within SEN, PRU, AP or mainstream settings
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Experience supporting ASD, SEMH, ADHD or behavioural needs desirable
- Calm, resilient and adaptable approach
- Passionate about inclusive education and therapeutic practice
