The Role
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role within your department, supporting pupils with severe and complex learning needs whilst providing high-quality classroom leadership when required.
You will be based within a department consisting of 3-4 classes, supporting a range of pupils across Lower School, Middle School and Upper School.
A key aspect of the role will involve leading classes during teachers’ PPA time, delivering planned learning activities and ensuring pupils remain engaged, supported and making progress throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include
- Supporting pupils with SLD, ASD and associated complex needs
- Leading classes during teacher PPA cover
- Delivering learning activities planned by teaching staff
- Supporting communication, engagement and independence
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and specialist support teams
- Building positive relationships with pupils and families
- Supporting personal care where required
- Assisting with behaviour support strategies and sensory regulation
- Helping pupils achieve meaningful educational, social and life-skill outcomes
