Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Permanent | SEND School Location: Hertford and surrounding areas Contract: Permanent, Full-time Start Date: ASAP Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a permanent opportunity within a specialist SEND school? We are working on behalf of a welcoming and supportive SEND school in Hertford and the surrounding areas, who are looking to appoint a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and wants to make a genuine difference to their education, development, confidence and wellbeing. The Role As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. You will play an important role in helping pupils to engage with learning, develop their confidence and independence, and reach their individual potential. Your responsibilities will include: * Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis * Assisting with learning, classroom activities and individual programmes * Providing encouragement, reassurance and emotional support * Helping pupils develop their communication, social and independence skills * Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment * Working closely with teachers, support staff and other professionals * Adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of each pupil * Encouraging pupils to develop confidence and become as independent as possible About You The school is looking for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant who is: * Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND * Patient, empathetic and nurturing * Reliable, committed and enthusiastic * Confident building positive relationships with pupils * Able to work effectively as part of a wider school team * Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations * Flexible and willing to adapt to different pupil needs * Keen to develop their knowledge and experience within a specialist SEND environment Previous experience working within a SEND school, mainstream school, education, care, youth work or support setting would be highly beneficial. However, candidates with transferable experience and the right attitude, patience and passion for supporting children and young people are also encouraged to apply.
