1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Location: Hatfield and surrounding areas Contract: Full-time Start Date: ASAP Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or support worker looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to a young person's education and development? We are working with a welcoming and supportive SEN school in Hatfield and the surrounding areas, who are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children or young people who is passionate about helping pupils build their confidence, develop their independence and reach their individual potential. The Role As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a pupil, helping them to access learning and develop their confidence, communication and independence. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team, adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of the pupil and helping them make progress both academically and personally. Your responsibilities will include: * Providing 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day * Supporting the pupil to engage with learning and classroom activities * Helping develop their confidence, communication and independence * Providing encouragement, reassurance and emotional support * Supporting positive behaviour and helping the pupil manage challenging situations * Assisting with individual learning activities and support programmes * Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil * Working closely with teachers, support staff and other professionals * Helping to maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment * Encouraging the pupil to become increasingly confident and independent About You The school is looking for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant who is: * Experienced in supporting children or young people * Patient, empathetic and nurturing * Confident building positive relationships * Calm and resilient when faced with challenging situations * Reliable, enthusiastic and committed * A good communicator and team player * Flexible and able to adapt your approach to meet individual needs * Passionate about supporting pupils with SEN * Keen to continue developing your SEN knowledge and experience Previous experience working within a SEN school, mainstream school, education, childcare, care, youth work or support setting would be highly beneficial. Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, challenging behaviour, communication difficulties or social and emotional needs would be particularly advantageous. We are looking for someone who can bring patience, consistency and a positive approach to their work and who understands the importance of building trust with the pupil they support.
