Permanent Teaching Assistant – SEND School
Location: Welwyn Garden City and surrounding areas
Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding permanent opportunity within a specialist SEND setting?
We are working on behalf of a welcoming and supportive SEND school in Welwyn Garden City and the surrounding areas, who are looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about working with children and young people and wants to make a genuine difference to their education, development and wellbeing.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
You will play an important role in helping pupils to engage with learning, develop their confidence and independence, and reach their individual potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Assisting with learning and classroom activities
- Providing encouragement and emotional support
- Helping pupils to develop their communication, social and independence skills
- Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm, safe learning environment
- Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals
- Adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of each pupil
About You
The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who is:
- Passionate about supporting children and young people
- Patient, empathetic and nurturing
- Reliable and committed
- Confident working as part of a team
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Keen to develop their knowledge and experience within SEND
Previous experience working within a SEND, education, care, youth work or support setting would be highly beneficial. However, candidates with transferable experience and the right attitude and passion for the role are also encouraged to apply.
