Gwenfro CP School is seeking to appoint a skilled, compassionate and resilient Level 4 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their full potential.

As a Level 4 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality support to pupils within our KS2 Resource Provision for pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). Working closely with teachers, support staff and specialist professionals, you will help create a safe, structured, inclusive and nurturing environment where pupils can engage positively in learning and develop their independence.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting behaviour and wellbeing - Using nurturing, trauma-informed and relational approaches to help pupils manage emotions, develop resilience and build positive relationships.
  • Adapting learning - Modifying tasks, resources and routines to ensure learning is accessible and appropriately challenging for pupils with a range of ALN.
  • Promoting independence - Supporting pupils to develop confidence, self-help skills and independence, both within the Resource Provision and across the wider school environment.
  • Working collaboratively - Liaising with teachers, therapists, external agencies and families to ensure consistent, holistic support for pupils.
  • Contributing to planning and assessment - Assisting with lesson preparation, assessment, individual support plans and reviewing pupil progress, providing professional insight and observations.
  • Acting as a key adult - Providing stability, encouragement and positive support, helping pupils to feel safe, valued and confident within the school environment.

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Experienced in supporting pupils with ALN, particularly within a specialist or resource provision setting.
  • Skilled in supporting communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Able to remain calm, consistent and compassionate when supporting pupils with complex or challenging needs.
  • Confident in leading interventions and contributing to planning and assessment.
  • Able to adapt their approach and learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Reflective, resilient and committed to ongoing professional development.

We can offer:

  • A supportive, experienced and passionate staff team.
  • The opportunity to work within a dedicated KS2 Resource Provision for pupils with ALN.
  • Access to specialist training and professional development in ALN, communication, emotional regulation and inclusive practice.
  • Opportunities to develop your career in a highly rewarding area of education.
  • A school culture built on empathy, respect, inclusion and the belief that every child can succeed.

An Enhanced DBS Check & EWC registration is required for this role.
