We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and motivated Childcare Assistant to support the childcare manager to ensure that children receive the highest standards of care, play and support.

About the role


Salary: Grade 5 SCP 10 - Β£14.35 per hour


Hours: 35 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (11.00am - 6.30pm term time)


Contract: Temporary - this for one year initially. Subject to the childcare provision being successful, this may be extended.


Main place of work: Rhws Primary School


This is an exciting opportunity for a childcare professional to assist in the day-to-day operation of Rhws Rangers Childcare.


As Childcare Assistant, you will work with a team of staff to plan and deliver engaging play opportunities, ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) requirements, and maintain a safe, happy and inclusive environment for all children.


Key responsibilities



  • Daily operation of the childcare provision.

  • Ensuring compliance with CIW regulations, National Minimum Standards and safeguarding requirements.

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of high-quality play opportunities, including holiday provision.

  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and child-centred environment where children can enjoy positive play experiences.


About you


We are looking for someone who:


Essential Requirements



  • Holds at least a Level 3 Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development qualification.

  • Hold at least a Level 3 Diploma in Playwork

  • Understands safeguarding, child development and health and safety requirements.

  • Demonstrates excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Can build positive relationships with children, families, staff and the wider school community.

  • Is committed to providing high-quality, child-centred play opportunities.


DBS Check Required: Enhanced and Barred Children
