The Youth Voice and Communications Officer plays a vital role for EYHC. You will be responsible for leading on and coordinating our engagement with young people all over Wales.
- Leading on engaging, managing, and continuing to develop EYHC’s Youth Board. This includes maintaining relationships with current members and developing relationships with prospective members, organising logistics for members to attend meetings and contributing to the running of said meetings.
- Working with the Youth Board members to co-produce output across EYHC’s annual workplan. We work to create numerous opportunities for our output to be co-produced with our young people, ensuring that a lot of output is produced by young people for young people.
- Being the lead point of contact with young people from across Wales for EYHC. Build relationships, explain who we are and what we do and provide an overview of opportunities for engagement with EYHC. At EYHC we are committed to working to a rights-based approach and follow the work of the UNRCC and the WBFGA.
- Supporting Young People to engage with EYHC research projects in the form of focus groups, interviews or other means. The Youth Voice and Communications Officer will again lead on the recruitment and coordination of the young people’s involvement and ensuring that the young people are in an environment in which they are relaxed and comfortable.
- Coordinating young people’s involvement in various EYHC led events and assisting with the running of said events where appropriate.
- Taking responsibility for EYHC’s use of social media, proactively planning and creating relevant and engaging content and reacting appropriately to trends and supporters, covering our Instagram, Tik-Tok and Linkedin.
- Leading on the continuous improvement of EYHC’s wesbite, ensuring content is kept-up-to-date and taking opportunities to use the website to support the organisation’s strategic objectives.
- Writing and creating copy for blog posts, our quarterly newsletter and social media content.
- Working with EYHC Coalition Members on content for our online presence across different types of media.
- Leading on press releases and communciating with the media to ensure press coverage of EYHC’s publications and events.
- Ensuring that all EYHC output follows brand guidelines.
- Supporting other EYHC team members on consultation and research processes where appropriate and required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- JNC Nationally Qualified (Level 6) in Youth and Community Work (or recognised equivalent). Eligible for registration in the Youth Worker category with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
- Experience working within an informal setting with young people aged 16-25 in a youth work context.
- Working knowledge of the application of the Wales Safeguarding Procedures
- Proven track record of proactively recruiting, training, supporting, and supervising young volunteers.
- A good understanding of the issues affecting young people who are homelesssness and/or at risk of facing homelessness.
- Demonstratable experience of working or volunteering in a digital marketing or communciations role.
- Demonstratable experience of managing an organisation’s social media or online output.
- Experience of managing or updating a website.
- Experience of developing communications for a range of offline and online channels.
- Ability to initiate, build and maintain purposeful and supportive relationships with young people (on individual and group basis) aged 16-25, promoting the core value of volunterary engagement.
- Ability to facilitate/deliver a range of informal enrichment opportunities for young people to gain skills, knowledge, and broaden their horizons and their aspirations for the future.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and on own initiative in a range of settings.
- Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships in collaboration with partner agencies and wider stakeholders to develop and grow the reach of the charity.
- Excellent IT skills, particuarly competent with Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Canva (or similar system).
- Basic understanding of video editing for social media content.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, ensuring tone and language are engaging and appropriate for the audience.
- Demonstrate the abiltiy to remain professional and calm whilst working under pressure.
- To communicate appropriately in a non-judgemental way.
- Professional approach and attitude which includes a strong sense of professional boundaries.
- Highly desirable: Welsh Speaking.
