Cardiff and Vale College is seeking a compassionate and motivated Additional Support Assistant x 2 to join our Inclusive Learning team based at our City Centre Campus. Please note that additional fixed-term positions are also available within the team, and candidates may be considered for all suitable opportunities.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LDD) to access their studies, develop independence and achieve their educational goals. Working as part of our dedicated Inclusive Learning team, you'll play a key role in creating a positive and inclusive learning experience for our learners.

What You'll Do

  • You will work closely with learners, teaching staff and support services to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Responsibilities include providing individual and group support, promoting learner independence, assisting with educational activities and college events, maintaining accurate records, and supporting learners to access assistive technology and specialist software.
  • The role may also involve supporting learners during educational visits, unstructured periods and, where required, assisting with personal care and feeding.

About You

You will be passionate about removing barriers to learning and helping young people achieve their goals. You'll be an excellent communicator who can build positive relationships and adapt your approach to meet individual learner needs. You should have:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above), including English and Maths, or equivalent Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent) or relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting young people with Additional Learning Needs, Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities.
  • Experience working within an educational or care setting.
  • Strong organisational and IT skills, including Microsoft applications.
  • A flexible approach and ability to work across College campuses when required.
  • A willingness to undertake minibus driver training and learn Welsh would be advantageous.
