Location: Black Lane School, Pentre Broughton, Wrexham, LL11 6BT
Subject: Teaching Assistant Apprentice
Hours: 30
Contract: Full Time - Term Time
Salary: Β£8.60p.h
As a teaching assistant you would support teachers and help children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom.
Duties include:
- Support learners with their language and literacy skills
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs (ALN)
- Supporting pupils with their numeracy, literacy and ICT skills
- Support children in the various areas within the class
- Understand the safeguarding and behaviour policy and their role within these policies
- Promote the welsh culture
- Working with children aged on Early Years & KS1.
- Supporting a teacher in various roles within the classroom
- Ability to conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times whilst working in schools
- Support with afterschool provision which includes sports activities
Essential Criteria:
- An eagerness to learn more about becoming a Teaching Assistant
- A passion for working with children
- Possess relevant qualities including patience and communication
- Ability to show professionalism at all times
- Ability to listen and learn from more experienced staff
As part of this apprenticeship, the successful candidate will undertake a structured training programme that includes:
- On-the-job training β gaining practical experience within a school setting.
- Off-the-job training β attending sessions covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development, and learning strategies.
- Regular assessments and feedback to track progress and improve skills.
- Additional learning support, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and communication.

- Any previous experience working with children
- Any previous experience with special educational needs (SEN)
- Communicational skills relevant to both children and adults
- Competent skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT
- Ability to self-manage and organise own time
- Personal qualities

- Smart appearance
- Professional attitude
- A level of maturity with working in a school environment will be required
- Desire to be a positive role model to young people
