We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pre-School Setting Assistant to provide high-quality one-to-one support for a child with complex medical needs within a nurturing pre-school environment. Working under the direction of the Pre-School Setting Leader, you will help ensure the child’s health, safety, dignity, inclusion, and developmental progress, while supporting access to the curriculum through play-based learning. This is a rewarding role for someone who understands child development and early years practice and is calm, caring, and committed to making a real difference.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one care and learning support for a child with complex medical needs
  • Respond confidently to medical situations using Paediatric First Aid training
  • Support learning through play-based Foundation Phase activities, promoting independence and self-esteem
  • Assist with personal and intimate care, ensuring dignity, privacy, and safety at all times
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers, and multi-agency professionals

Qualifications & training

  • Full Paediatric First Aid Certificate (12 hours)
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including literacy and numeracy (Welsh desirable)
  • NVQ Level 3 in a child-related discipline (or working towards)
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory training (medical, safeguarding, first aid)

The above position is offered as a fixed-term contract in the existing pre-school setting, Tinytots. Some knowledge of Welsh is a requirement of this post. Applicants are welcome to discuss the post with the Head Teacher Mrs. Lorna Tuffin.
