St David's Catholic Primary School is a successful and happy school serving the Catholic communities of the West of Swansea. At St David's school, it is our desire that every child, irrespective of faith, age, gender, ability, or ethnicity attains the highest possible standards in relation to his or her potential.

The successful candidates will be responsible for providing high quality teaching support and working as part of the team. The Teaching Assistant will provide learning support and guidance for all pupils; experience working with children who have additional learning needs in the mainstream classroom is essential.

The post requires:

  • Sensitivity, empathy and an understanding of the pupils in the school;
  • The relevant qualifications and experience in a school setting;
  • Excellent Literacy, Numeracy and IT skills;
  • A proven track record of excellence;
  • Good communication skills with an ability to encourage, motivate and deal with a variety of pupils;
  • Ability to support pupil learning within mainstream Foundation Phase/Key Stage 2 classes;
  • Capability to carry out practical tasks which support the smooth running of the school;
  • Effectiveness in working as part of a team;
  • Confidence in supporting pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs and those with English as an Additional Language;
  • Positivity, optimism and proactivity within an existing strong team of staff;
  • Contribution to the general life of the whole school;
  • High expectations both for children and themselves;
  • Support for high quality teaching and learning;
  • Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school community.
