This post is in our Specialist Teaching Facility (STF) supporting learners with severe learning difficulties. The Governing Body of Danygraig Primary wish to appoint a Temporary Teaching Assistant for 19.5 hours, 3 days per week, with the possibility of an additional 2.5-hour Lunchtime Supervisor role.

This post requires someone who:

  • Ideally has experience of working in a primary school or childcare setting or has relevant experience of working with young people with additional learning needs (ALN).
  • Is able to plan and use specialist programmes and resources to support a person centred approach to learning with authentic and purposeful learning experiences, both indoors and outdoors.
  • May also supervise whole classes occasionally during the short term absence of teachers.
  • Holds relevant qualifications, eg. GCSEs, or NVQ or other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Has very good Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills.
  • Is passionate about working with children with ALN to support them to achieve their potential.
  • Has excellent communication skills and is able to nurture, support, challenge and inspire our children, for some of whom, English is an additional language.
  • Works individually and as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities in an STF setting, and your own position within these.
  • Supports the life of the school and the wider community.
