We are looking for a passionate Big Bocs Bwyd (BBB) Coordinator to oversee the strategic and daily operations of our two school-based community food hubs. In this role, you will lead our "Pay As You Feel" shops at each school site, fostering a culture of healthy, sustainable living within our federation schools and our wider community. This is a very important role: it is a position focused on tackling food poverty, reducing waste, and playing a major part in integrating food literacy directly into our school curriculum. You will be responsible for managing the "Bocs" (a modified shipping container), coordinating food collections, and empowering volunteers and pupils with realâworld enterprise skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Operations: Oversee the daily running of the "Bocs" and coordinate food logistics with partners like FareShare Cymru, local supermarkets, and businesses.
- Support Education: Work with teaching staff to link activitiesâsuch as growing and cookingâto the Four Purposes of the Curriculum for Wales.
- Engage the Community: Recruit and train volunteers (parents and residents) and organise outreach events like coffee mornings to promote the "Pay As You Feel" model.
- Mentor Pupils: Eventually manage pupil "trainees," teaching them essential skills like stock control, money management, and customer service.
- Ensure Safety & Compliance: Monitor food safety standards, including fridge/freezer temperatures, and maintain accurate records of stock and waste reduction.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications
You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all successful applicants, which will include an Enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
