This is an opportunity to train as a secondary teacher through the FULLY FUNDED PGCE at the Open University (2-year programme). Fixed Term Contract until 31/08/2028.
The school offers a special opportunity through a PGCE partnership program (2 years) funded by the Welsh Government via the Open University. The successful candidate will teach through the medium of Welsh and support the Welsh Government’s campaign to increase Welsh speakers in Wales. The program is aimed at graduates changing careers or with experience working with children and young people, including teaching assistants, learning coaches, or youth officers who wish to progress. Applications from candidates in their final year are welcome.
There is an exciting opportunity to train with experienced staff in curriculum areas that are at the forefront of Curriculum for Wales, with a focus on creating inspiring resources. The school has a distinctive community and supportive team culture. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting the school’s vision and who can develop into a confident, innovative educator through the Welsh medium. The school provides full support during development.
Program Description and Requirements:

- A full UK honours degree (or equivalent).
- For secondary teaching (ages 12-16), your degree should be at least 50% relevant to the subject.
- For Welsh subjects, fluency in the language may be considered even if the degree is not in that subject.
Full-time availability for the duration of the program (not term-time only) and based at the school Monday to Friday until August 2027.
For questions or more information about the program, email the PGE Wales Team at wales-pgce@open.ac.uk.
