ABERMULE COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL HEADTEACHER Required for September 1st 2026 or earlier if possible. This role will involve a regular teaching commitment. ISR: 7-13 NOR: 78 32.5 hours, Permanent.
Following a period of change and uncertainty, the Governing Body is seeking to appoint a new Headteacher to lead the school forward through its next stage of development. This exciting opportunity comes at an important moment of transition for the school which is ready for renewed leadership and direction from an inspiring and compassionate Headteacher.
Our school sits at the heart of a close-knit community. It is a place where children are known as individuals, families are welcomed, and relationships really matter. While that sense of friendliness and belonging remains strong, we know the school has lost some of its sparkle in recent years – and we are ready for a leader who can help it shine again.
This role is ideal for a teacher who is eager to make their mark: someone with the vision, energy and creativity to shape the future of the school, while respecting and nurturing the values that make it special. The successful candidate will have the full support of the Governing Body and the freedom to introduce new ideas, raise aspirations and standards, and re‑energise teaching and learning – without losing the warmth, approachability and community spirit that define us.
The right person will have:
- A proven track record as an effective leader, manager and outstanding dynamic teacher, who inspires and empowers those around them.
- A clear vision to further develop the school, and the skills and determination to deliver that vision with the support of staff, parents and governors.
- The ability to lead and motivate pupils, staff and the wider community to create an effective and inclusive culture of life‑long learning.
- The belief in the benefits of a close partnership between the school and the wider community.
- The ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cluster, regional and national network.
- A passion about teaching and learning and shows great commitment to the children and staff, with high expectations in all aspects of school life.
- Understand the importance of the ALNCO. The candidate will either take on personally or line manage this role.
- An up‑to‑date knowledge of The Curriculum for Wales, and both local and national priorities.
The school was last inspected by Estyn in 2019 when it received a very positive report. A copy is available. To get a flavour of our school please take a look at our Facebook page or our website, and for further information or to arrange a visit to the school, please contact the chair of the governing body – Cllr. Alan Meredith‑Jones at Meredith‑JonesA5@Hwbcymru.net.
The NPQH qualification is listed as Essential but the Governing Body will consider applications from candidates who have been selected for or are in the process of completing the NPQH programme.
Closing Date: 25th February 2026 at 5pm. Shortlisting: 2nd March 2026 Interview: 17th and 18th March 2026. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
