Oversee all aspects of Skills curriculum and support staff and learners.

Fixed Term – Parental Cover

Fixed term contract to May 2027.

Salary Details: Scale MS1‑MS6 (currently £52,333 – £60,885 pro rata).

Contract Type: Salaried (Management) – Fixed term to May 2027 (parental cover).

Hours of work: Full time – 37 hours per week.

Holiday Entitlement: 37 days plus statutory bank holidays & College efficiency closures (per annum).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 5 qualification in a relevant field.
  • Highly desirable to hold a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) or another appropriate professional teaching qualification.
  • Highly desirable to hold a recognised management qualification such as ILM.

Experience:

  • Proven track record of managing staff, learners, curriculum, resources and learning outcomes.
  • Experience of managing learner behaviour and of tracking and monitoring systems.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance processes.
  • Experience of financial planning, managing budgets and resources.
  • Ability to network and build successful relationships with employers and other key stakeholders to ensure the curriculum meets business needs and requirements.

We are looking for someone who is self‑motivated, enthusiastic and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to lead, motivate and support staff and learners towards achieving agreed goals. You will take responsibility for curriculum management, quality assurance, planning and development, and employer liaison within a curriculum area. This role requires excellent people‑management skills, including the ability to reflect, make sound but swift decisions and adapt to the ever‑changing educational environment. It is also an excellent opportunity for an aspiring manager to gain valuable experience within a high‑performing department. A mentor will be provided to work closely with the chosen candidate.
