The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

As a teaching assistant you will support teachers and help children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom. You will work with children aged 4 to 11 years across the primary curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Support learners with their language and literacy skills.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs (ALN).
  • Support pupils with their numeracy, literacy and ICT skills.
  • Assist in varying classroom activities and support children in the various areas within the class.
  • Understand the safeguarding and behaviour policy and apply these within the classroom.
  • Promote Welsh culture and language where appropriate.
  • Work alongside teachers in various classroom roles.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times within the school environment.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children (desirable).
  • Experience with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills with both children and adults.
  • Competent numeracy, literacy and ICT skills.
  • Ability to self‑manage and organise own time effectively.
  • Reliable, professional attitude and smart appearance.
  • Desire to be a positive role model for young people.

Training and Development

  • On‑job training gaining practical experience within a school setting.
  • Off‑job training covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development and learning strategies.
  • Regular assessments and feedback to track progress and improve skills.
  • Additional learning support, particularly in literacy, numeracy and communication.
