Learning Support Assistant – Level 1 – Nursery – Neyland Community School

Salary: Grade 3 – £24,796 pro rata for 28.50 hours per week term time only for 46.8 weeks per annum equating to £17,143.50 pro rata, rising to 47.8 weeks, £17,509.82 pro rata per annum after 5 years' service.

Employment Type: Temporary Fixed Term – 28.5 Hours (13 April – 31 August 2026)

We are looking for a capable Level 1 Learning Support Assistant to work in our Nursery provision. At Neyland Community School we are passionate about providing the highest quality care for all our children in a fun, stimulating and caring environment. We love the outdoors and promote active learning opportunities in all weathers!

The role will support children and colleagues within the Nursery and implement the daily routine by supporting check-in, learning activities through play and group work and being a proactive member of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of appropriate programmes of activity for the children in collaboration with the Nursery Manager.
  • Have a full understanding of the Nursery systems of record keeping and keep records of the children's development, using our online learning journey called SeeSaw.
  • Assist with the Breakfast Club routines each morning.
  • Assist in the provision of an attractive and stimulating range of equipment, activities and displays, indoors and relevant to the ages and needs of the children, which encourage independence, self-motivation and eagerness to learn.
  • Assist in the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development.
  • Be familiar with the National Minimum Standards and guidelines and recommendations of good practice and assist in their implementation.
  • Share the responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in the Nursery.
  • Liaise with parents and encourage their involvement in the aims of the Nursery and in all aspects of their child's care.

Schedule:

The vacancy is for 28.5 hours per week over five days: Monday to Thursday from 08:30 to 15:00 and 08:30 to 13:00 Friday.
