A welcoming and well-established school in Rochdale is seeking a reliable, proactive and hardworking Caretaker to join their site team from September 2026.

The school is committed to providing a safe, secure and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the school premises, buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard.

You will work closely with the school's leadership team and site staff to support the day-to-day running of the school and ensure the site remains safe, clean, secure and operational.

This role would suit someone with previous caretaking, facilities, maintenance or site-management experience who takes pride in their work and is confident working independently.

  • Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are safe, secure and well maintained
  • Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs across the school site
  • Completing regular checks of the buildings, facilities and external areas
  • Opening and securing the school premises as required
  • Responding promptly to maintenance issues and reporting larger repairs where necessary
  • Supporting contractors and external visitors when working on site
  • Maintaining school grounds, including basic gardening and outdoor upkeep
  • Assisting with moving furniture, equipment and resources around the school
  • Monitoring site security and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
  • Maintaining appropriate records relating to site checks, maintenance and health and safety
  • Supporting the school with emergency procedures and site-related incidents
  • Ensuring the school environment is clean, safe and suitable for pupils and staff
  • Working collaboratively with the senior leadership team and wider school staff
