As an Admissions Officer, you will undertake day‑time operational admission processing of applications and decision making (or other admissions activities) in accordance with the partner’s requirements, processes and system, ensuring that you uphold compliance and deliver to expected quality standards in line with SLAs. You will ensure that you deliver an excellent applicant experience at every touch point, each and every time, to support our partners with their enrolment targets.
Working efficiently and flexibly to ensure that we respond to our partners’ and the sector’s changing needs will be integral to achieving success in this role. As part of the Admissions team, you will be an excellent team player whilst also being able to work independently and conscientiously. You will demonstrate a positive attitude to working flexibly and managing variation with the opportunity to develop new knowledge and skills. You will work intelligently and with initiative, through which you will contribute to our ongoing success.
Key accountabilities:
- Assessing applications accurately in accordance with relevant requirements & regulations including but not limited to fee liability, academic eligibility, English language requirements, widening participation, professional/clinical/industry experience requirements, immigration requirement, student route/visa regulations & age requirements.
- Completing application assessments accurately and with a high level of attention to detail to determine appropriate outcomes, apply decisions and progress records correctly within partner(s) systems and in accordance with their defined procedures.
- Ability to identify where additional information is required or needs querying and liaise with the prospective applicant and/or partner appropriately in a professional manner, whilst ensuring that such queries are resolved in a reasonable time frame.
- Through the delivery of your operational duties ensure that work is completed to expected standards and within agreed SLAs.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with our partner(s) ensuring that they love us, communicating professionally and working collaboratively with their teams to deliver a best‑in‑class service and effectively resolving issues as they arise.
- Ensure an excellent applicant experience at every touch point, each and every time, to support our partners with their enrolment targets.
- Undertake such other duties as may from time to time be required, either on a short‑term or permanent basis where these are commensurate with the level of the role and required by the business as it develops.
Essential experience, skills and competencies:
- Relevant experience in an admissions setting is required, ideally within a higher education environment. Candidates will typically have around two years of experience, although equivalent experience in related contexts may also be considered where relevant and transferable.
- Excellent time management with the ability to intelligently prioritise your work whilst effectively coordinating with your team to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of UK Higher Education postgraduate admissions or undergraduate admissions including the UCAS process (business rules, routes & deadlines and confirmation & clearing). At least one area is required, but both is preferred.
- Knowledge of qualifications and understanding of comparability/equivalencies, either UK or international (both is preferable, but not essential).
- Knowledge of fee assessment for any of the UK regions.
- Knowledge of the compliance requirements for UKVI student route (for at least one study level).
- An understanding of the principles of the GDPR and DPA.
- Confident and professional telephone manner.
- Superb communication skills including an excellent standard of spoken and written English.
- A positive, can‑do attitude and high level of initiative.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and multi‑task.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others in a remote working environment.
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
