Veritas Education is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a friendly and nurturing primary school in Lancaster for a committed Reception Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team from September 2026. This full-time position will run for the entire academic year and will focus on supporting the school's new Reception intake, helping children settle into school life and develop the foundations for future learning.
The Role
As a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children during their first year of school. Working closely with the class teacher and wider Early Years team, you will help create a positive, engaging, and stimulating learning environment. The school operates a collaborative approach to support staff, meaning you will be expected to work flexibly across:
- Whole-class support within the Reception classroom
- Small group intervention sessions
- One-to-one support where required
- Phonics sessions and early literacy development
- Indoor and outdoor learning activities
- Supporting children's social, emotional, and academic progress
Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must:
- Hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification as a minimum
- Have previous experience working within an Early Years or primary school setting
- Possess a strong knowledge of phonics programmes and early reading development
- Have experience supporting pupils within whole-class, group and one-to-one settings
- Be patient, enthusiastic and nurturing in their approach
- Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
