The EIS is Scotland’s largest and most influential trade union and professional association for teachers and lecturers, with over 60,000 members working in all education sectors and at all career stages. With such a large and diverse membership, and as an organisation that is strongly active across many areas of Scottish Education, we rely on high quality administrative support.
We are currently seeking a full time Administrative Assistant to lead our busy Membership Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- the maintenance and management of the membership database
- administration of annual elections
- EIS diary procurement
- day-to-day management of the membership department staff (currently 3)
- departmental activity including monitoring subscription income
- processing of bulk emails
- providing support to other departments for the recruitment of new members
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high standard of communication skills, commitment to team working, close attention to detail, and expertise in using Microsoft Office.
Benefits include a final salary superannuation scheme and 23 days’ (rising to 32) annual leave plus 14 days’ public holidays. This is a full-time position, based in the EIS HQ in central Edinburgh. However, the Institute has a Flexible Working Patterns policy, offering all members of staff a high degree of flexibility over the location at which work is carried out, subject to the overall requirements of the EIS and its members.
