A fantastic primary school in Sunderland is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full‑time, long‑term ongoing basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed professional with proven SEND and challenging behaviour experience to make a meaningful impact within a supportive and well‑respected mainstream school.

Working days: Monday to Friday.

Working hours: 08:30 – 15:30

About the Role

  • Full‑time Teaching Assistant role supporting pupils with both mainstream and SEND with challenging behaviour in a mainstream school.
  • Supporting learning, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour in the classroom and wider school environment.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff.
  • Implementing individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour plans, and tailored support strategies.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Challenging behaviour and SEN experience preferred.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and ability to build positive relationships.
  • Reliable, committed, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.
