We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Ouseburn area of Newcastle on a part-time basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support individuals with additional needs in a highly supportive and person-centred environment. Working Hours

  • Monday: 09:00 – 15:00
  • Wednesday: 09:00 – 13:00
  • Thursday: 09:00 – 15:00

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support as a SEN Teaching Assistant to learners with a range of additional needs.
  • Support learning activities and help adapt resources to meet individual needs.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to support positive outcomes.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to deliver personalised learning plans.
  • Support learners’ social, emotional, and communication development.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting individuals with SEND – essential.
  • A strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practices.
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with learners.
  • Experience working in a specialist or alternative provision – desirable.
