SEN Support Worker x3 - Durham

We are seeking three dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Workers to join a highly regarded specialist SEND school in Durham.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

The school caters for pupils aged 2–19 with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and complex additional needs.

Every pupil has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and the school is committed to delivering highly personalised support to meet individual learning, communication, and developmental needs.

, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils throughout the school day, helping them access learning, develop communication and social skills, build independence, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Support pupils in accessing learning activities and participating fully in school life.
  • Assist with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and personal development.
  • Support pupils with sensory needs, behavioural needs, and physical needs where required.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive relationships.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised support plans.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing, and engagement.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility support where required.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all pupils.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
