This is an exciting opportunity to lead a successful Social Sciences department, inspire students, and drive outstanding outcomes across Psychology and Sociology.

The successful candidate will be a passionate educator and confident leader with a proven track record of raising achievement and developing engaging, high-quality learning experiences.

They will play a key role in shaping the department's vision, supporting colleagues, and ensuring students develop a strong understanding of human behaviour, society, and contemporary issues.

  • Lead and manage the Psychology and Sociology department, promoting excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Teach Psychology and Sociology at Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students to achieve their full potential.
  • Develop and implement an ambitious and inclusive curriculum that supports outstanding outcomes.
  • Monitor student progress and use data effectively to drive improvement and intervention strategies.
  • Coach, mentor, and support colleagues within the department.
  • Lead departmental quality assurance, curriculum planning, and assessment practices.
  • Manage departmental resources and contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a positive and aspirational learning culture for both students and staff.
  • Ideal Candidate
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have a strong track record of successful Psychology and/or Sociology teaching.
  • Demonstrate previous leadership experience or the capability and ambition to step into a middle leadership position.
  • Possess excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Social Sciences.
  • Have high expectations of student achievement and behaviour.
  • Be an effective communicator with strong organisational and leadership skills.
