We are seeking an experienced and passionate SENDCO to join a highly regarded secondary school in Redbridge from September 2026.

As SENDCO, you will lead the strategic development of SEND provision across the school, working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, families, and external agencies to provide outstanding support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop high‑quality SEND provision across the school.
- Coordinate support for students receiving SEN support and those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Lead the strategic development and implementation of the school's SEND provision.
- Work closely with teachers to promote inclusive, high‑quality classroom practice.
- Monitor the progress and attainment of pupils with SEND, ensuring interventions have measurable impact.
- Lead annual reviews and ensure statutory SEND processes are completed in line with current legislation.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, external agencies, therapists, and the wider pastoral team.
- Support and develop staff through advice, guidance and training on effective inclusive practice.
- Oversee provision within the school's Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) where appropriate.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
Essential Criteria
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or currently working towards the qualification – essential.
- Previous experience working with students with a range of SEND needs within a secondary school.
- Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and external professionals.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Preferred Criteria
- Previous experience as a SENDCO within a secondary school.
- Experience working within an Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) or specialist provision.
- Experience leading whole‑school SEND strategy and staff development.
- A proven track record of improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.
- A passion for continuous school improvement and inclusive education.
