We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead and inspire our language department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality language education, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting both students and staff. Duties
- Lead the planning and delivery of MFL curriculum across all key stages, ensuring it meets national standards and caters to diverse learner needs.

- Implement behaviour management strategies to create a respectful and productive classroom environment.

- Support students with special educational needs in language learning through tailored tutoring programmes.
- Monitor student progress in languages such as French, Spanish, or German, providing feedback and intervention where necessary.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by analysing departmental performance data and implementing targeted strategies.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate language skills across the curriculum, including maths and journalism projects.
- Promote organisational skills within the department to ensure smooth operation of classes, assessments, and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in teaching modern foreign languages at secondary level or above.
- Strong mentoring abilities with a track record of developing teaching staff.
- Knowledge of journalism, creative writing, proofreading, behaviour management, and special educational needs is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate students and staff alike.
- Organisational skills capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
