This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and organised Site Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the school site, ensuring the premises remain safe, secure, compliant, well maintained, and fit for purpose.

The role combines operational leadership with practical site duties. You will work closely with the wider facilities team, contractors, and school leadership to maintain high standards across the premises and ensure the school environment supports students and staff effectively.

As Site Manager, you will oversee facilities operations while remaining actively involved in maintenance, security, compliance checks, porterage, emergency response, and other practical duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the safe, secure, and effective operation of the school premises.
  • Lead, coordinate, and work alongside facilities staff and external contractors.
  • Oversee statutory premises compliance checks, including fire, water, gas, electrical safety, and other relevant requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, compliance, and site records.
  • Manage site security, including opening and securing premises, keyholding, alarms, and responding to call-outs.
  • Undertake and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Oversee cleaning, housekeeping, porterage, waste management, and grounds-related activities.
  • Monitor plant, equipment, utilities, and building condition, escalating specialist issues where required.
  • Support school events, lettings, room setups, and other operational requirements.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and school procedures are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Proven experience managing facilities or premises, including coordinating staff and contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety and premises compliance requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of buildings, maintenance, and first-line repairs.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a demanding workload.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • A practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to undertake physical site duties.
  • The ability to respond effectively to emergencies and changing operational priorities.
