Role Overview

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in North London from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator who can engage students through rich literary content, dynamic lessons, and a commitment to developing both analytical and creative writing skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 to 4.
  • Foster a love of literature, language, and learning in all students.
  • Assess and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse needs.
  • Promote critical thinking, discussion, and literacy across all abilities.
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the English department.
  • Support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, theatre trips, or writing workshops.
  • Uphold school policies related to behaviour, assessment, and safeguarding.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience of teaching English literature and language to GCSE level
  • Degree in English or a related discipline
  • Recent and relevant classroom experience
  • Proven ability to teach English up to at least GCSE level
  • Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centred learning
  • Enthusiasm for professional development and collaboration

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching A-level English Literature and/or Language
  • Familiarity with the UK curriculum and exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
  • Willingness to lead or support enrichment activities
  • Previous experience in a London school setting
