We are seeking a reliable, organised, and proactive Design Technology & Food Technology Technician to join a successful and welcoming secondary school in Tower Hamlets. As a Design Technology & Food Technology Technician, you will play a vital role in preparing resources, maintaining equipment, and ensuring practical lessons run safely and efficiently. You will work closely with teaching staff to support students' learning experiences across a range of practical subjects.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare materials, tools, ingredients, and equipment for Design Technology and Food Technology lessons.
- Support teachers in the delivery of practical lessons and demonstrations.
- Maintain workshops, classrooms, preparation areas, and storage facilities to a high standard.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained, and stored safely.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials, ingredients, and equipment.
- Carry out routine safety checks and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Support risk assessments and ensure safe working practices are followed at all times.
- Assist with displays, practical projects, and examination preparation where required.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and equipment logs.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
- Previous experience working in a technician, workshop, catering, food preparation, or practical support role.
- Good knowledge of health and safety procedures within practical environments.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Competency in using a range of tools, equipment, and practical resources.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Previous experience working as a DT Technician, Food Technology Technician, or School Technician.
- Experience supporting practical lessons within a secondary school environment.
- Knowledge of workshop machinery, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience working with food preparation equipment and maintaining food hygiene standards.
- A Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- A relevant qualification in Design Technology, Engineering, Construction, Food Technology, Catering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of CLEAPSS guidance and school health and safety procedures.
