Are you a strong communicator who can confidently manage a classroom of secondary students? Education World is currently recruiting reliable and assertive individuals for Full-Time and Part-Time Cover Supervisor roles across Newcastle secondary schools.

This role is perfect for those with experience working with young people – whether in education, youth work, sports coaching, or similar settings – who are calm under pressure, resilient, and ready to take charge of a classroom when the regular teacher is absent.

The Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you\’ll play a key role in ensuring continuity in learning by:

Leading secondary classrooms during teacher absences, keeping pupils engaged and on task.

Delivering pre-set lesson plans confidently across a variety of subjects.

Managing behaviour effectively, using your initiative to maintain a calm and respectful environment.

Acting as a positive role model, supporting students’ learning and personal development.

Recording attendance and reporting concerns to school staff.

Experience working with young people aged 11–16, ideally in a school, coaching, youth work, or mentoring capacity.

Strong behaviour management skills and confidence in leading a class independently.

Excellent communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.

Flexible availability Monday to Friday during school hours – could be just 1 day.

A genuine interest in education and helping young people succeed.

Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or similar role.

A degree or qualification in education, psychology, youth work, or sport.
