We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Durham. Key Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning by working with individual pupils and small groups with SEND.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated and engaging learning activities tailored to pupils’ individual needs.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where all pupils can thrive.
  • Support pupils’ communication, emotional regulation, social development, and independence.
  • Adapt resources and learning activities to meet a range of learning needs and abilities.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support the implementation of behaviour management strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support for pupils.
  • Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification – essential.
  • Experience working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • A strong understanding of SEND strategies and inclusive learning practices.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
