We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school in Durham. As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating an inclusive, nurturing, and engaging learning environment tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated, and engaging lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with SEND.
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where all pupils can thrive.
- Adapt teaching strategies and resources to support a range of learning needs and abilities.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, using assessment to inform planning and individual support.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support for pupils.
- Support pupils’ communication, emotional regulation, social development, and independence.
- Promote positive behaviour and implement effective behaviour management strategies.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, reports, and pupil support plans where required.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- Experience working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
- A strong understanding of SEND strategies, inclusive teaching practices, and differentiated learning.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills.
- A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
