We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hardworking Caretaker to join a welcoming primary school in Bishop Auckland from July 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance, site management, or caretaking experience who is looking to work within a school environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the school site remains safe, secure, clean, and well‑maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors. This role is expected to continue throughout the summer period, with the possibility of extending into September.
Working Hours: Split Shift Pattern
- Monday to Thursday: 6:30am – 8:30am and 3:30pm – 5:30pm
- Friday: 6:30am – 8:30am and 3:30pm – 5:00pm
Start Date: Monday 13th July
The Role:
- Open and secure the school site each day
- Carry out routine health and safety checks across the premises
- Undertake light maintenance and basic repair tasks as required
- Complete light cleaning duties to ensure the school remains presentable and safe
- Monitor the condition of the building and grounds, reporting any issues promptly
- Support the school in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site support role
- Be practical and confident carrying out basic maintenance tasks
- Demonstrate a strong awareness of health and safety responsibilities
- Be reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently
- Have excellent time management and organisational skills
- Experience working within a school environment is desirable but not essential
