We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne from September 2026. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Inspire students to develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, using assessment effectively to inform planning and raise attainment.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where all students can thrive.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
  • Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all students, including those with SEND and varying abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to curriculum development and departmental success.
  • Participate in the wider life of the school where appropriate.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
Essential Criteria
  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Experience teaching the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 English curriculum – essential.
  • Strong subject knowledge of English Language and English Literature.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to deliver engaging, inclusive, and differentiated lessons that inspire students to achieve their best.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred Criteria
  • Experience preparing students for GCSE English Language and English Literature examinations.
  • A proven track record of raising attainment and promoting student progress.
  • Experience working within a secondary school setting.
  • A willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities and the wider life of the school.
