We are seeking a professional and organised Administrative Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Newcastle on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced school administrator who is passionate about supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a busy school environment and providing excellent service to pupils, parents, staff, and visitors.
As an Administrative Assistant, you will play a key role within the school office, supporting a range of administrative functions and acting as a first point of contact for the wider school community. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience using Bromcom and PS Purchasing, enabling them to contribute effectively from the outset.
Key Responsibilities- Provide efficient administrative support to the school leadership team and wider staff.
- Act as a welcoming first point of contact for parents, visitors, pupils, and external agencies.
- Manage telephone, email, and face-to-face enquiries in a professional manner.
- Maintain accurate pupil records and administrative data using Bromcom.
- Support attendance monitoring and reporting processes.
- Process orders, invoices, and purchasing requests using PS Purchasing.
- Assist with school communications, correspondence, and general office administration.
- Support the organisation of meetings, events, and school activities where required.
- Ensure confidential information is handled appropriately and in line with GDPR requirements.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.
- Previous experience working within a school office or administrative environment.
- Experience using Bromcom – highly desirable.
- Experience using PS Purchasing – highly desirable.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a busy environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- A professional, proactive, and approachable manner.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
