As a Student Bursary Advisor within the Student Experience and Wellbeing team, you will play a key role in supporting students to access financial support and overcome barriers to education. You will provide advice, guidance and practical support to students applying for bursaries and other funding, helping them with costs such as travel, course materials, kit, uniform, trips and visits. Working closely with curriculum departments and support services, you will help identify students who may need financial support and ensure timely and effective interventions are in place to support attendance, retention and achievement. The role is varied and student-facing, involving supporting applications through drop‑ins and group sessions, responding to enquiries from students, parents and carers, and contributing to the coordination of financial support processes, including travel support such as bus passes. You will also contribute to maintaining accurate records in line with funding requirements. You will be required to work across any of the ETC Group sites as required.
Key responsibilities
- Provide advice, guidance, and practical support to students applying for bursaries and other funding.
- Identify students who may need financial support and coordinate timely interventions to support attendance, retention and achievement.
- Support applications through drop‑ins and group sessions, respond to enquiries from students, parents and carers.
- Coordinate financial support processes, including travel support such as bus passes.
- Maintain accurate records in line with funding requirements.
Qualifications and attributes
- Approachable, organised and committed to supporting students.
- Strong communication skills and confident providing guidance to a wide range of individuals, both one-to-one and in group settings.
- Good organisational and IT skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Understanding of confidentiality and supporting individuals facing barriers to education.
Full training will be provided in relation to student funding and financial support. The role is Disability Confident.
