Education Personnel is recruiting for a passionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a busy and inclusive primary school in Derby city centre. The school focuses on supporting pupils with additional needs and promoting inclusion across the school. The environment is welcoming, safe and supportive, with small-group support and targeted interventions to help children thrive academically and socially. Pupils benefit from well-resourced classrooms, dedicated SEND spaces and access to sensory and outdoor learning areas. As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will work collaboratively with teachers and parents to ensure the best outcomes for pupils. Professional development is provided to enhance skills in supporting learners with SEND.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEN in a primary school setting
- Work 1:1 or in small groups to deliver targeted interventions and support learning across the curriculum
- Apply strategies to support pupils with a range of SEND, including social, emotional and learning needs
- Liaise with teachers, parents and external professionals
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, safety and inclusion
- Contribute to the wider life of the school and promote an inclusive learning environment
Qualifications
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN in a primary school setting – preferred
- Good understanding of strategies to support pupils with a range of SEND
- Strong communication skills
- Patience, empathy and a positive approach
- Ability to adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of behaviour, safety and inclusion
