We are proudly supporting one of our specialist partner schools in Derby in appointing a committed and inspiring SEND Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a school dedicated to delivering high-quality, tailored education for children and young people with a range of additional needs — including neurodiversity, communication and interaction differences, complex learning profiles, and social-emotional needs.

The school offers a calm, welcoming, and highly supportive environment where every pupil is understood, valued, and given the opportunity to succeed. Pupils benefit from small class sizes, structured lessons, and a team of experienced support staff committed to personalised learning. Many children have EHCPs, and the school works closely with families and external professionals to ensure every learner’s needs are met.

Facilities include accessible, well-equipped classrooms, sensory-friendly areas, and dedicated resource provisions to support children with physical, sensory, or additional support needs. The school’s commitment to inclusion, adaptability, and holistic support means that teaching is flexible and responsive — blending academic learning, life skills, communication development, and emotional wellbeing.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with SEND, ensuring that each learner can access the curriculum in a meaningful way
  • Work closely with support staff, therapists, and external specialists to deliver personalised support plans
  • Foster pupils’ communication, independence, emotional regulation, life skills, and confidence
  • Adapt learning activities and resources as needed — including sensory resources and differentiated materials — to meet varied needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues and families to support each pupil’s development and well-being
  • Contribute positively to the school community, supporting broader school life and the inclusive culture

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or an equivalent qualification — SEND experience is highly desirable, though a strong commitment to developing specialist practice will also be considered
  • Understanding of personalised and adaptive teaching approaches, with ability to differentiate and deliver structured lessons for a diverse learner profile
  • Awareness or willingness to learn about supporting pupils with communication difficulties, sensory needs, behavioural/emotional needs, or learning differences
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with staff, families, and external agencies
  • Empathy, patience, resilience, and a genuine dedication to supporting every child to reach their potential
  • Willingness to contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive school community

Why this role is special:

This position offers more than just a job — it offers the opportunity to make a real, positive difference in the lives of children and young people who benefit significantly from tailored support and understanding. You’ll be part of a school that values each pupil as an individual, celebrates their strengths, and supports their growth — academically, socially, and emotionally. For the right person, this is a deeply rewarding long-term role with scope for professional growth within specialist education and SEND practice.

Why Work With Education Personnel:

  • Access to a wide range of exclusive SEND and teaching roles across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and the East Midlands
  • Personalised support from experienced consultants who understand your skills and career goals
  • A dedicated point of contact to guide and support you throughout your placement
  • Competitive pay with weekly pay options
  • Full compliance and vetting support for a smooth, stress-free registration process

If you’re passionate about SEND, inclusion, and helping young people overcome barriers to learning, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Education Personnel to express your interest or submit your application.
